Das Dokumentationsverhalten von Pflegekräften in deutschen Kliniken in Abhängigkeit vom Dokumentationsmedium

Abstract

In deutschen Kliniken werden Pflegehandlungen entweder papierbasiert oder über elektronische Systeme dokumentiert. Für die elektronische Dokumentation stehen verschiedene Medien der Datenerfassung zur Verfügung. Dazu zählen nicht-mobile Stationsarbeitsplätze, Laptops und mobile Smartphones. In der vorliegenden Dissertation soll evaluiert werden, welche Auswirkungen das verwendete Dokumentationsmedium auf den Ort und die Dauer der Dokumentation sowie auf die Aktivitätsmuster der Pflegekräfte hat. Hierfür wurde die Methode der Beobachtung der Pflegekräfte mit den unterschiedlichen Dokumentationsmedien gewählt. Anschließend wurde eine Befragung von Pflegekräften an neun zufällig ausgewählten Kliniken zu ihrem Dokumentationsverhalten, ihrem Dokumentationssystem und zu ihrer Einstellung gegenüber dem verwendeten Dokumentationsmedium durchgeführt. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass die Arbeitsmuster der Pflegekräfte nicht zwingend von dem verwendeten Dokumentationssystem abhängen. Die Einführung eines elektronischen Systems allein bedeutet nicht automatisch, dass sich die Arbeitsabläufe verändern oder verbessern. Die Qualität der Patientenversorgung darf sich durch ein Dokumentationsmedium nicht verschlechtern.

In German hospitals, nursing activities are documented either paper-based or via electronic systems. For electronic documentation, various data collection media are available. These include non-mobile workstations, laptops and mobile smartphones. This dissertation aims to evaluate the effects of the documentation medium used on the location and duration of the documentation as well as on the nursing activity patterns. For this purpose, the chosen method is the monitoring of nurses while using the different documentation media. Subsequently, a survey of nurses at nine randomly selected clinics was conducted on their documentation behavior, their documentation system and their attitude towards the used documentation medium. It has been shown that the working patterns of the nursing staff do not necessarily depend on the used documentation system. The introduction of an electronic system alone does not automatically result in changed or improved work process. The quality of patient care should not be impaired by a documentation medium.
