Western or bourgeois fashion trends were deliberately replaced with socialist variants by cultural functionaries of the SED and brought to the public with a lot of propaganda. The "Lipsi" was a dance form that was to replace Rock'n Roll and Twist in the fifties. The article reflects the corresponding public relations work and the unsuccessfulness of these efforts.
