Abstract: The recent trends in automation require a highly reliable communication in order to enable distributed controls in real-time applications. Time Sensitive Networking and 5G promise to provide the required Quality of Service for the wired and wireless communication, respectively. However, high reliability comes at the expense of a high con- figuration and engineering effort especially for heterogeneous networks. This paper aims to reduce the barriers of a successful co-configuration 5G and TSN. Therefore, a broad overview over the specifications of both technologies is given with a focus on the individual and joint configuration of both systems. Subsequently, architectural aspects of the cocon figuration and a mapping of 5G and TSN parameters are pointed out to enable end-to-end quality of service in industrial communications.
