Abstract: Strukturelle Eigenschaften zweier kammartiger Polymere mit steifer Hautkette, Poly(1,4-Phenylen-2,5-n-Dialkoxyterephthalat) (PPAOT) und Poly (2,5-n-Dialkoxy-1,4-Phenylen-Vinylen), mit 6-12 CH2 Einheiten als Seitenketten wurden mittels Röntgenbeugung untersucht.
Structural features of two series of rigid main chain comb-like polymers, poly(1,4-phenylene-2,5-n-dialkyloxyterephthalate)s (PPAOTs) & poly(2,5-n-dialkyloxy-1,4-phenylenevinylene)s (AOPPVs), with 6 - 12 CH2 unit/side chain were investigated by X-ray diffraction. Main aim was to learn about the packing state of alkyl side groups within their alkyl nanodomains & a possible influence of the side chain packing state on main chain ordering. The packing state of the side chains is investigated based on a comparison of the VCH2 in modification A & B, showing that the alkyl groups are disordered in case of modification A while they are probably fully crystalline in case of modification B. Also this side chain packing result in a significant variation of the π-π spacing. Studies by relaxation spectroscopy on modification A of PPAOTs clearly show that the cooperative dynamics of CH2 units confined within alkyl nanodomains is mainly affected by the domain size. It is confirmed by the transition from a weak to more pronounced non-Arrhenius character as well as the systematic increase of relaxation temperatures of the αPE process with increasing side chain lengths.
