Abstract: | Extensive areas of centrat Germany have been submitted to open-cast brown coal mining activitieswithin the last decennia. To reinlegrate these areas into its natural environment new concepts havebeen developed based on processes and structures determining the course of spontaneous primarysuccessions.By our investigations could be shown that there exist special relations between spontaneous settlementsofinvading populations and parameters characterizing the course of successional stages. The knowledgeof these dependences has provided first promising results to be essential for developing integratedconcepts and to derive initial steps for recultivating these areas under resource sustainable aspects. |
