Zusammenfassung: Urban wastelands often can be characterisized by a high species diversity. But such sites become more andmore seldom in urban landscapes. The vegetation as weil as Araneae, Carabidae and Staphylinidae were studiedon refuge island (100 x 200m) between Halle and Halle-Neustadt, completely enclosed by traffic routes fromapril 1995 to april 1996. Refering to vegetation structure the investigation site could be divided into three subareas. The association of the first area, which is often disturbed and has a gappy vegetation-cover, a DaucoPicridetumGörs 1966, already with a tendency for developing into a Tanaceto-Artemisietum vulgaris Siss. 1950.The second area is occupied by a anthropogene (man-made) forest of Robinia pseudoacacia with ruderalplants in the ground-layer. The third area is a small hill. The vegetation of it may be called a Tanaceto vulgarisArrhenatheretumelatioris Fischer (1985) with strong ruderal influences. Altogether 74 phanerogame plantspecieswere found on the investigation site.By means of pitfall-traps, sweep-net- and handcatches 79 spider-, 66 ground beetle- and 76 staphylinid-speciescould be proved. The highest species numbers in alf three taxa were found on the hill, which was characterizedby the highest number of plant-species as weil.In the Robinia pseudoacacia-forest the smallest numbers of carabid-species were recognised, whereas stillhigh species numbers were observed with the two other taxa. The least species-numbers of staphylinidae andspiders were established on the disturbed area (vegetation covering 70 %). But the percentage of endangeredand ecologically important species was highest just upon this site. With the exception of theRobinia-pseudoacaciastandthe species of the investigation-site predominantly were xerophilious. As a whole the least similarity refering to species-identity of spiders and ground beetles was established betweenthe disturbed area and the Robinia pseudoacacia-forest. High identity was observed between the Robiniapseudoacacia-forest and the hill (Tanaceto vulgaris-Arrhenatheretum elatioris Fischer ( 1985)). Correspondingresults were obtained refering dominance-identity. With the staphylinid beetles the similarity between ever twoareas was not high.
