A six-equation Baer–Nunziato model at pressure equilibrium for two ideal gases is derived from a full non-equilibrium model by applying an asymptotic pressure expansion. Conditions on the interfacial pressure are provided that ensure hyperbolicity of the reduced model. Closure conditions for the relaxation terms are given that ensure consistency of the model with the second law of thermodynamics.eng
