| Abstract: | Older patients with cancer are heterogeneous in their physical function (PF), cognitive function, and comorbidities. Despite tailored oncologic therapies, PF may decline. Therefore, this study developed and pilot-tested a multimodal intervention combining individualized physical activity and dietary recommendations to promote PF in older patients undergoing outpatient radiotherapy. The intervention was delivered either digitally or in paper format. Participants received an individualized, home-based program based on comprehensive assessments and personal goals. Feasibility, acceptance, adherence, and potential benefit were evaluated after 12 weeks and at follow-up. In the sample (n=24; 70±7 years), both formats were well accepted. PF showed no clinically relevant changes, though substantial individual variability was observed. In conclusion, the intervention was feasible, providing a supported alternative to on-site, especially in areas with difficult access to the training facilities. |
