dc.description.abstract19. yüzyılın geleneksel Osmanlı gündelik hayatındaki müziğin rolünden yola çıkan bu makale, seçkin anı kitaplarını temel alarak müziğin Osmanlı’nın son dönemi ile genç Türkiye Cumhuriyeti arasındaki zaman diliminde (19. yy.’ın sonuyla 1920’li yıllar arasında) yaşayan insanların hayatında nasıl ve hangi farklı şekillerde yer tuttuğunu incelemektedir. Otobiyografi yazarlarının müziğe ne kadar değer verdikleri ve kendi ortamlarında müziğin hangi türlerini farkettikleri özellikle dikkate alınacaktır. Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil’in (1866-1945) hayatının ilk yarısını konu eden anıları, her şeyden önce 19. yy.‘ın son kısmında İstanbul ve İzmir’deki Türk müzik hayatını etkileyen Batı müzik türleri (opera, operet, dans …) hakkında bilgi verirken, özellikle çocuk kitapları ile tanınan yazar Cahit Uçuk (1909-2004) konuya kadın perspektifinden bakar. dc.description.abstractStarting with the role of music in traditional Ottoman every-day life of the 19th century, the article – based on selected autobiographies - deals with the question how and in which different ways music could be present in the lives of people between the late Ottoman period and the early Turkish republic (end of the 19th century up to the 1920s). Thereby, it is particularly considered in what degree music was of importance to the authors, or rather which parts of their musical environment they noticed. While the early memories of the novel writer Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil (1866-1945) give insight into the Western influences on Turkish musical life of the late 19th century in Istanbul and Izmir (opera, operetta, dance …), the memories of the author Cahit Uçuk (1909-2004), well known above all for her children books, present a female perspective, by imparting the role which music had played in the life of her mother Hadiye as well as in her own life, with relation to the change of contemporary society – in Thessaloniki, Aleppo, Istanbul and various places of Anatolia.
