The Current Status of Afghanistan's Accession to the World Trade Organization (Dari)

Abstract

The issue of the less-developed countries'- such as Afghanistan's- accession to World Trade Organization and their commercial and economic partnership with the large industrial countries is a controversial topic. This work is mostly devoted to the consideration of the process of acquiring membership of WTO or the necessary stages to be passed in order to obtain accession to the Orga- nization. It also attempts to deal, in length, with such important conditions of acquiring accession as those related to Working Party, Foreign Trade Regime, Bilateral Agreements, and finally Domestic Legislation. It is to be recalled that the process of accession to WTO has been different not only among devel- oped, developing, and less-developed countries, but also among the countries in the same group. It is therefore necessary to have a glance on the required steps to be taken before Afghanistan's accession to WTO, in order to clarify its current standing in that process.
