Abstract: The development of electrified vehicle transmissions is becoming increasingly im-portant as they have a major impact on fuel economy and vehicle dynamics. On the basis of already known state of the art synthesis methods for vehicle trans-missions, a theory for electrified transmission structures based on a combination of planetary gear sets and spur gear teeth is developed. This combination supports the display of fixed mechanical gears by two different kind of load paths. Therefore all theoretical gear distributions are determined and examined on their direct shift ability as well as their gear grading quality. Furthermore, special attention is paid to form-fitting switching elements and their coupling with each other. This ap-proach allows both space reductions and improvements to the efficiency. In addi-tion to known hybrid functionalities, electrification allows additional functions for gearboxes, such as the electrical start-up process, the electrical drag force assis-tance as well as active synchronization. These are taken into account in the synthe-sis algorithm. Meaningful evaluation criteria, which qualitatively describe the properties of the examined transmission system, are defined and evaluated. A comprehensive evalu-ation process for all generated transmission structures allows a detailed view into the technical relevance and efficiency of all systems. Last, but not least, significant transmission structures for future vehicle develop-ment will be presented and discussed.
