According to available literature and observations in the "Hallesche Kuppenlandschaft" north of Halle (Saale) for the period from 1961 to 1995, 156 sites of sand lizard (Lacerta agilis L., 1758) were collected and mapped. That are further sites for two quadrants of the large-scale map 4437 (Halle-Nord).The map is showing some areas with a high frequency of sites of sand lizard, but it includes also gaps of distribution. The species was proved in some ofthe areas, including small porphyry hills, over a period of several years. Hints for full isolation of any population were not found. Porphyry and limestone hills with complexes of dry and mesoxerophytic meadows are important habitats of sand lizard in the investigation area. Concerning the protection of Lacerta agilis, suggestions were made.eng
