In his contribution, Stefan Trute presents the positions of Martin Broszat and Saul Friedländer on the concept of "historicization" and the "historians' dispute". Historicization does not imply the weakening of horror, but rather allows the necessary distance to be created in order to be able to penetrate and represent it in an appropriately hermeneutic way.
