The nomenclature of Erysiphe clandestina (≡ Uncinula clandestina) revisited

Schlechtendalia 17: 55–57.Die Nomenklatur des eurasischen Ulmenmehltaus, Erysiphe clandestina (≡ Uncinula clandestina), wird revidiert. Dieser Name ist nicht verfügbar für diesen Pilz innerhalb der Gattung Erysiphe, da E.M. Fries das spätere Homonym E. clandestina (basierend auf Alphitomorpha clandestina, heute Podosphaera clandestina) sanktioniert hat. Der gegenwärtigen, durch phylogenetische Untersuchungen und Neubewertungen morphologischer Merkmale gestützten Taxonomie der Erysiphales folgend ist jedoch ein gültiger Name für diese Art in Erysiphe notwendig. Deshalb wird der neue Name Erysiphe bivonae vorgeschlagen.

This name is not available for this fungus within the genus Erysiphe since E.M. Fries’s work sanctioned the later homonym E. clandestina (based on Alphitomorpha clandestina, currently Podosphaera clandestina). Following the current taxonomy of the Erysiphales based on phylogenetic examinations and morphological reassessments, a valid name for this species in Erysiphe is necessary. Therefore, the new name Erysiphe bivonae is proposed.
