Abstract: AL HUSSEIN, I. A.: The spider communities (Arachnida, Araneae) of selected sites of the former "salty Iake" near Röblingen, Saxony-Anhalt.- Hercynia N. F. 33 (2000): 281-292. The "salty Iake", like other lakes, owed its origin the mining activities in the Mansfeld mining region. The today's natural reserve comprises the western, the north-western and the northern part of the former Iake between Röblingen a.S. and Seeburg. Almost one hundred years after the original Iake had vanished a project was started with the purpose to "re-establish the salty Iake". Within the framewerk of this project profound floristic and faunistic investigations (including the Araneae) were Iead through. The data sampled should help to improve decisions within the nature conservation management. Sampies were taken at 8 selected sites within the see-basin by means of pitfall traps and of sweep net catches. Altogether 94 species could be proved. It also may be, that the spider community of the salty Iake area is still developing and that a more stable species community could not establish there until now. Important to mention are the relatively high abundances of the halotolerant and rare species Enoplognatha mordax and Tapinocyba biscissa. 8oth species were found for the firsttime in 1998. As halotolerant as weil are regarded Argenna patula and Silometopus reussi, two other species of these sites. The xerothermophilic spider Eresus cinnaberinus could be proved in 1999. As a whole, the spider communities of the investigation sites consists of species characteristic for open, dry grasslands, moist habitats, plowed and set aside fields as well as hedges and shrubs. Especially important habitats are the grasslands, influenced by salty conditions, the set aside grasslands, the freshly set aside fields and the xerothermic grasslands.
