Today, antibiotic resistance has become a major problem in therapies and many subsequent infections have been caused due to this resistance. Hence, there is an emerging need to introduce novel antibacterial agents that can show remarkable and comparable activities to established antibiotics. In this study, we focused on the development of novel indole-containing compounds (trisindolyl-cycloalkanes and indolylbenzo[b]carbazoles) by designing one-pot and low-cost chemical reactions and evaluating the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the synthesized compounds against strains of Staphylococcus (aureus, MRSA, epidermidis), Enterococcus (faecalis, faecium, VRE), Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Candida albicans, and Candida krusei. Lead compounds were introduced after the SAR analysis. Most of the compounds showed residual and enhanced activities.eng
