The adsorption of oxyanions on iron mineral phases represents an effective way of drinking water treatment. In the present work, adsorption experiments were performed for different arsenic and antimony species: As (III), As (V), DMA (V), Sb (V) and TMSb (V) onto GEH® (granulated iron hydroxide). The determination of the maximum loading of each species onto GEH® was in the focus of the experiments as well as the influence of parameters like pH-value and inorganic competitors on the adsorption of certain species. The aim of these investigations was the prediction of the adsorption as a function of the raw water composition. Additionally, leaching experiments were conducted to quantify the remobilization of adsorbed species and furthermore to distinguish between inner- and outer-sphere complexes of the species on the iron mineral phase.
