Posttransformativer Strukturwandel in den Klein- und Mittelstädten in Sachsen-Anhalt

Abstract

Die Arbeit analysiert die Struktur und Entwicklung von 53 Klein- und Mittelstädten in Sachsen-Anhalt im Zeitraum von 2007-2013. Dabei werden sowohl ökonomische, demographische als auch die Zentralität betreffende Dimensionen betrachtet. Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung ist die seit etwa 2005 einsetzende konsolidierende Entwicklung sozioökonomischer Indikatoren, welche für die neuen Bundesländer zunächst fremd erscheinende Fragen nach Reurbanisierung und Reindustrialisierung -auch - in Klein- und Mittelstädten evozieren. Derartige räumlich selektive, nicht flächendeckende Erneuerungsprozesse zeigen sich dabei parallel zu allgegenwärtigen Schrumpfungsprozessen. Diese neuerliche Konstitution partiellen Wachstums im Städtesystem wird hierbei als posttransformativ bezeichnet. Um die grundlegenden Entwicklungslinien der Städte zu analysieren stützt sich die Untersuchung auf vielfältiges sekundärstatistisches Material. Abschließend werden Entwicklungsperspektiven der Städte in Sachsen-Anhalt diskutiert.

The present thesis deals with the structure and the development of 53 small and medium sized cities in Saxony-Anhalt in the period from 2007 to 2013. The key aspects thereby are economic and demographic ones as well as aspects relating to the centrality of these cities. Social economic indicators in the new federal states of Germany started to consolidate since 2005 which can be seen as a new period of the structural change in Eastern Germany after reunification. Due to this consolidation former unusual developments like reurbanisation and reindustrialisation appear in the research area. These developments occur simultaneous to the pervasive shrinking process but have a rather selective spatial impact. This partial growth of the urban system could be called post-transformative. This research is based on extensive secondary statistical data to analyse the basic development of small and medium sized cities in Saxony-Anhalt. Following these analysis it points out future prospects of these cities and discusses possible future developments.
