The results give a first survey to distribution of helophytes and halophytes in salt loaded wetlands in the formeruranium mining district in Thuringia. Some species can exist as weil in strong salt loaded areas as on extremeacidic sites. At nine different investigation areas (ditches for leakage waters near dumps, tailing ponds, largesizedwetlands like moisting meadows) altogether 205 species were found. 23 of it are indicators for oversalting. Some of the results are part of a study for treatment of neutral magnesium- and sulfate waters and selectedsulfur acid waters in order of WISMUT GmbH. The present results are helpful to clear up geobotanical questionsand beyond that in development of process engineering for treatment of typical mining waters (e.g. in form of"wetlands"). On the realization of such concepts WISMUT works actually. In connection therewith it must benote that the quantity of seepage waters and whose-concentrations in future will be retrograde.ger
