In order to reduce the cost of installation when applying calandered rubber sheet and simultaneously to prevent the blistering and the subsequent danger of attack through corrosion beneath the coating, through different applied pressures when rolling the rubber sheet, it would be endeavoured to introduce the application of an alternative possibility of a rubber lining in the form of a trowelled coating. In that context the miscibility of different rubbers is investigated and the influence of the chemical constitution and the viscosity of the polymers on the morphology of multi phase blends by means of compatibility agents is discussed. Furthermore, the crosslinking of differently composed rubber phases is introduced and the consequences of the morphology of the resulting net-work of the vulcanizate on the physical properties especially the permeability are estimated. The development of the recipe of the coating for protection against corrosion are based on Bromine butyl rubber. As this rubber shows the lowest gas diffusion properties it recommends itself as the best basic material to be used as a coating against highly aggresive medium. Owing to the many investigations when testing the influence of different components of a recipe (naphthene softener, liquid butyl rubber, trans-Polyoctenamer as a polymeric emulsifier, filler and additive) of the application the vulcanizates in the protection against corrosion. In addition, different crosslinking agents (sulphur and phenolic resin) are added to these compounds which would investigated for ist produced morhology (prove about DMA and REM) an hence ist permeability (determination the water vapour permeability on DIN 53122, part 1). The tests of rubber to metal coatings with regards to the protection from corrosion behaviour is achieved through the condensed water test according to DIN 50017 and using a saucepan covertest according to hausmann.eng
