Nowadays in many places in Germany drinking water is still gained from private house fontains. At this there are partly considerable problems of the water quality according to the drinking water ordinance (TVO). The thesis was promoted by the German Federals Foundation of Environment (DBU). Aim was the recording and assessment of the spatial and temporal development of the load situation and the load causes in private drinking water fountain of the little covered loose rock area of the Mittlere Erzgebirge. The translation into action was carried out at the example of the catchment area of the Saidenbachtalsperre. By application and development of methods, techniques and programs within the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) ArcInfo and ArcView in connection with database -supported memory models a prototype Environment Information System (UIS) Saidenbachtalsperre was developed at the Hydrogeology-Section of the Environmental Research Center Leipzig-Halle. The very heterogeneous input-data of the environmental situation were enlarged by extensive field examinations to the hydrogeological situation in the fountain catchment areas, analyses and statistical evaluations of essential hydrochemical parameters for the identification of the water quality. Furthermore examinations of the stable isotopes δ15N- und δ18O to inquire the origin of the nitrate nitrogen were implemented. The UIS makes spatial analyses of the Scenarios influencing the load situation possible and effective. Primary factors are morphological parameters, landuse and management as well as landscape water and particle balance in the catchment areas of the drinking water wells. The UIS is conceived and for multiple exploitation by officals.
