The Main focus of this work is to investigate the geometric structure of BaTiO3 films grown on Fe(001) single crystals using surface X-ray diffraction (SXRD). The proposed structure models are supported by theory concerned with the film stability and its magnetic properties and expanded by the inclusion of Pd(001) and Pt(001) as substrates. Further research covered the inverted structure by depositing Iron on BaTiO3-films and single crystals. The preparation of BaTiO3 crystals leads to another interesting question about the structure of the BaTiO3(001)-(2x1) reconstruction found on the single crystals used as a substrate for the Fe growth. This question is answered in the last part of this work providing a model for the Perovskite surface not considered so far.
