Background:The aim of this study is to analyze the clinical outcome afterkyphoplasty. Method:The retrospective study includes 57 patients with 66 osteoporotic vertebral fractures. Parameters such as: age structure, gender distribution, clinical course measured by VAS, Oswestryscore and the SF 36 were considered. Additionally, radiological parameters of the vertebral body as the leading edge, trailing edge and medium height as well as the kyphotic and the Cobb angle were described. Results:The average VAS reduced significantly from a preoperative 8.7 to a postoperative 1.9. Radiological examination showed that the leading edge and the medium vertebral height could be raised by 3.1 mm and 3.9 mm. The Kyphotic angle was reduced by 3.9°. Conclusion:The Study shows a weak correlation between the clinical information of the patient and the radiologically determined erection of the vertebral body. Kyphoplasty is a good and effective method to treat osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
