Quantenkorrekturen im Hypermultiplettsektor von Typ II Stringtheorien

Abstract

Typ II Stringtheorien, kompaktifiziert auf Calabi-Yau 3-Mannigfaltigkeiten, werden im Niederenergielimes durch N = 2 Supergravitationstheorien in vier Dimensionen beschrieben. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der störungstheoretischen Quantenkorrekturen zu den Hypermultiplettsektoren dieser Theorien. Im einfachsten Fall, der Kompaktifizierung der Typ IIA Stringtheorie auf einer Calabi-Yau Mannigfaltigkeit mit eindeutiger komplexer Struktur, enthält die Theorie nur ein Hypermultiplett, das sogenannte universelle. In Fortführung einer Arbeit von Strominger werden die störungstheoretischen Quantenkorrekturen in diesem Fall vollständig bestimmt. Weiter wird gezeigt, welche Probleme sich ergeben, wenn man versucht, die entsprechende Untersuchung im Fall einer beliebigen Zahl von Hypermultipletts durchzuführen. Durch Mirrorsymmetrie ist die Kompaktifizierung der Typ IIA Stringtheorie auf einer Calabi-Yau Mannigfaltigkeit äquivalent zur Kompaktifizierung der Typ IIB Stringtheorie auf der sogenannten Mirror-Mannigfaltigkeit. Es wird gezeigt, wie man die klassischen Hypermultiplettsektoren der beiden Theorien aufeinander abbildet und damit eine explizite Realisierung der Mirrorsymmetrie gegeben. In einem Anhang werden schließlich die benutzten geometrischen Konzepte erläutert, wobei insbesondere eine Einführung in die Theorie quaternionischer Mannigfaltigkeiten gegeben wird.

The low energy limit of type II string theories compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds is given by N = 2 supergravity theories in four dimensions. The subject of this work is the investigation of the perturbative quantum corrections to the hypermultiplet sectors of these theories. The simplest case is given by the compactification of the type IIA string theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold with a unique complex structure. In this theory there is only one hypermultiplet, called the universal one. In continuation of work by Strominger the complete perturbative quantum corrections in this case are determined. Furthermore, there is a discussion of the problems arising if one tries to carry out the analogous investigation in the case of an arbitrary number of hypermultiplets. By mirror symmetry the compactification of the type IIA string theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold is equivalent to the compactification of the type IIB string theory on the so-called mirror manifold. It is demonstrated how to map the classical hypermultiplet sectors of the two theories onto one another. Thus an explicit realization of mirror symmetry is given. An appendix contains an introduction to the geometrical concepts used in the text with special emphasis on the theory of quaternionic manifolds.
