Zu Bestand und Identität von teratologischen Präparaten im zootomischen Sammlungsbereich der Meckelschen Sammlungen

Abstract

Die ehemalige anatomische Privatsammlung der Meckels ist im Jahre 1836 in Universitätsbesitz übergegangen. Seit 1880 befindet sich diese, die liebevoll Meckelsche Sammlung genannt wird, im heutigen Gebäude für Anatomie und Zellbiologie der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. In der Nach-Meckel-Zeit kam es zu einer Vermengung von Meckelschen Präparaten und später hinzugefügten Stücken. Daher bestand der Hauptziel dieser Dissertation darin, den heutigen tierisch-teratologischen Sammlungsbestand zu analysieren. Die Untersuchungen schließen die neu durchgeführte Bestandsaufnahme und die gezielte Identifikation der Präparate aus der Ära Johann Friedrich Meckel des Jüngeren (1781-1833) ein. In der Arbeit wird zunächst auf das methodische Vorgehen und die verwendeten Quellen eingegangen. Danach folgt die Auswertung der historischen Kataloge. Heute sind in der Sammlung 57 originale tierisch-teratologische Forschungspräparate aus der Schaffenszeit Meckels d. J. vorhanden. In den Ausführungen zu den Ergebnissen werden einzigartige Forschungsstücke Meckels d. J. vorgestellt. Weiterhin wurde erstmals die Bedeutung der pathologischen Tierpräparate in der Forschungsarbeit Meckels d. J. zur pathologischen Anatomie herausgearbeitet.

The Meckels' former private anatomical collection passed over into the possession of the university in 1836. Since 1880 it has been in today's building for Cell Biology of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, with the collection being affectionately called the "Meckel Collection". After his death Meckels' the Younger original preparations got blended with pieces added to it in the course of time. Due to this blending the main purpose of this dissertation consists of an analysis with regard to today's inventory of this animal teratologic collection. The study also includes the newly accomplished stocktaking as well as the carefully directed identification of those peparations dating back to the era of Meckel the Younger (1781-1833). At the beginning methodical procedures as well as the sources used are dealt with in this study, which is follwed by an evaluation of the historical catalogues. Nowadays the collection includes 57 original animal teratologic preparations from the working time of Meckel the Younger. Within the discourse concerning the results unique pieces of the latter's research are presented. Furthermore the significance of Meckel's pathological animal preparations within his pathological anatomy was worked out in this study for the first time.
